The Responsible Energy Development Act and the New Alberta Energy Regulator (PSL®) NEW COURSE

November 12, 2013

Time: 13:00 - 16:30
13:00:00
Location:

Who:

This seminar is designed for industry personnel who require an understanding of the changes that have been made and are being made to the current Regulator in the Province of Alberta.  Anyone dealing with ASRD and the former ERCB for licencing/permit requirements including First Nations consultation would also benefit.

What:

Alberta is in the middle of a significant change in the way our energy resources are managed.  The Alberta Legislature passed the Responsible Energy Development Act (REDA) in November of 2012 which led to the creation of a single energy regulator, the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER).  Starting in June of 2013 the AER will begin to amalgamate the roles of the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB), Alberta Environment, and Sustainable Resource Development (SRD) into one new single regulatory body.

This course will explore the development of the Act through the Regulatory Enhancement Task Force and the Regulatory Enhancement Project and it will provide an overview of the significant changes introduced in REDA.  The course will provide an overview of the structure of the AER and the current status of the transition to a single energy regulator.  The focus will be on how the new processes, many of them not yet developed, will change the way energy policy is managed, the way we conduct public engagement, how energy license applications are processed and the process to obtain surface land dispositions from the Alberta Crown.

Registration Fee includes beverages and snacks.
