The CALEP Energy Transition Speaker Series May 31, June 1, June 8

Geothermal Energy: Alison Thompson breaks down the basics of geothermal energy, its benefits, potential applications in Canada, and why and how geothermal energy should and can play a vital role in Canada’s energy future as we move towards net-zero.

When:

Tuesday May 31, 2022 @ 12:00-1:00pm

Presenter:

Having held several positions at a coal-based utility in the US and hydrocarbon giants in Canada, and Chair of CanGEA, Alison Thompson has stood on both sides of what sometimes seems like a deep divide between renewable and non-renewable energy. She also advocates for the geothermal industry and dedicates herself to championing the current policy gaps in Canada. As an engineer, she brings a comprehensive national geothermal understanding of the technology behind energy production. Through her incredible diversity of experience, she has developed an in-depth understanding of the political landscape and business culture of energy in Canada and beyond. Alison’s insight into industry gained from project development experience enable her to identify policy gaps and to craft legislative recommendations that close the gaps
