Education
Continuing Education, Scholarships, Mentorship Programs and Post Secondary Advisory comprise the majority of the Education Director's Portfolio.
The Continuing Education Committee provides seminars and workshops to enhance the overall professional development of the CAPL members. The CAPL offers over 55 seminars each year covering a broad spectrum of subjects, presented by industry experts. With our own training facility located in the core of Calgary's downtown, we are constantly monitoring industry trends and government and regulatory initiatives with a view to keeping our membership informed.
The Scholarship Committee seeks out and assists the most deserving students currently enrolled in the various Post Secondary Land related programs across the province. We take pride in working with these future members of our profession to develop and secure their future success as Land professionals.
The Mentorship Committee manages a program which connects students with individual Landmen, working in industry. Within these relationships the students receive mentorship in real working environments, where students experience classroom principles being applied in real life. This program has helped many of these protégés to find full time employment within the oil and gas business. I encourage all members to share their knowledge and experience by mentoring a student - you'll be amazed at what you can learn!
The Education Director is also responsible for staying in contact with the various Post Secondary Institutions in the Province that offer Land Programs. CAPL offers advice and support to the program providers, in order to ensure a bright future for our profession and industry.
